What is Argan Oil ?

Argan oil is a plant oil produced from the kernels of the argan tree which only grow in one region of southwestern Morocco. This liquid gold was used by the Moroccans for generations for culinary and cosmetic purposes. Argan oil is known for its richness of essential nutrients (especially vitamin E), antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds which is highly beneficial for nourishing, repairing and maintaining healthy skin, hair and even nails!

Every face oil has a different formulation, weight, and absorption rate, making some better suited for certain skin types and concerns than others. Castor oil and grape-seed oil, for example, decrease excess oil on acne-prone skin, while coconut oil and avocado oil act as incredibly rich moisturizers for dry skin.
Argan oil, however, falls in the middle of the spectrum—it’s not too heavy, not too light—making it perfect to use on all skin types. It’s packed with omega fatty acids, vitamin E, and linoleic acids, all of which work to lightly moisturize your skin, soften dry patches, and even reduce acne.

Will argan oil clog your pores?
Surprisingly, it would not. In fact, argan oil has a zero rating on the comedogenicity (in layman's terms, pore-clogging) rating scale. Comedogenic scale ranks the ingredients based on their ability to clog skin pores. It ranks from 0 to 5. The higher the number, the higher chances the oil will clog your pores. Any ingredients with a comedogenic rating of 2 or less are considered non-comedogenic, hence do not clog pores.

Well, the production makes a difference on the quality and effectiveness! Dried argan fruits were cracked by hand to obtain the kernels. Then the argan oil will be extracted from the kernels either by chemical extraction, or cold pressed method. To preserve its full nutrients, we chose the latter options. While the team behind this highly labour intensive process, is a group of local berber women.
